Mediterranean Journey
I see the birth of an artwork as an outpouring of what is inside myself.
I’m always searching for the right techniques to facilitate this journey from inside to outside.
In my painting I have started to thoroughly wet the surface of the paper or the canvas. It’s like painting on water; it’s so fluid.
The marks I make on the paper with my brush don’t become fixed to the paper right away; instead, they change—moving, distorting, expanding.
I like the idea that I’m not making all the decisions and that I don’t have absolute control over the final result.
It also gives me ideas of movement.
Inside that rectangle of paper, with its clearly defined borders, something must always appear…
