Drawing: Signs of Change
It is difficult to say exactly where my work begins. I don’t have an exact method
that I follow every time; for me I think it is primarily an imaginative process.
The painting becomes a virtual space where a reconstruction of outside experiences
and the world gradually comes into being.
Usually when I start to work, even when I use photographs or images from literature
or movies, I only have a vague idea of what the final result will be. I try
to give shape to an atmosphere and a desire, in the attempt to record a series
of events that go on inside and around the image itself. In the best of moments
I have the impression of seeing continual movement, of stirring up the image
so that it produces echoes, resonances, and other imaginative patterns, going
on and on in continuous changes, variations, combinations, and deformations
in a game of construction and destruction…
