Since its creation in 1998, the Gallery Cent8 successfully supports both internationally known artists, such as Marina Abramovic and Gloria Friedmann, and younger artists, including Anne Brégeaut and Valérie Mrésen. The programme of the exhibitions respects this balance, owing to Rémy Zaugg, Veronique Soumard, Jurgen Klauke.
Six exhibitions are set up each year, in order to develop the activity of the gallery, by searching for a ‘line’ that is not limited. The programming is not based on special theoretic points, but it is processed according to the practises and to the current debates of contemporary art. The gallery encourages diversity and experimentation.
The space of the gallery evolves according to the artistic proposals, which it welcomes, and it adapts itself to them, thanks to a showroom, which allows a permanent and immediate visibility of the works of the artists of the gallery, owing to a modular system.
A new configuration of the space has been implemented for Laurent Pariente, who has presented his latest work in September-October 2000.
